Ice in Wine

Every summer, someone asks if it's "okay" to put ice in their wine. The answer? Absolutely.

In fact, the French have been doing it for years. Along the Mediterranean coast, particularly around Saint-Tropez, La Piscine ("the swimming pool") became the unofficial drink of hot afternoons: a generous pour of chilled rosé over ice in a large balloon glass. Legend has it that actress Brigitte Bardot dubbed it La Piscine because the oversized glass looked like a swimming pool.

Will the ice dilute the wine a little? Sure. That's kind of the point when it's 92 degrees outside and you're sitting in the sun pretending you have nowhere to be.

Bright, savory, and made for backyard hangs. Try it with herb-marinated lamb skewers, grilled pork chops, or Tri- Tip with a Mediterranean-inspired rub featuring oregano, fennel seed, and cracked pepper.

Domaine Lapierre "Raisins Gaulois" Vin de France Rouge

The ultimate picnic-to-BBQ red—vibrant, juicy, and dangerously crushable. A natural match for burgers, hot dogs, and dry-rubbed baby back ribs with brown sugar, paprika, and a touch of cayenne. Don’t forget the macaroni salad!
